    Car Sales Edinburgh

This is a great time for finding a good bargain on either a new or a used car Edinburgh. Perhaps there are not quite so many on the market as there were this time last year, but there certainly is no shortage and they seem to be particularly attractively priced – see http://www.motors.co.uk/ for more details. One of the reasons for this is that now is one of the times of year when car dealers make most of their money as people tend to buy new cars now in order to get the best out of the new number plate.

As a result many dealers in Edinburgh have a large number of cars on their forecourts that they have bought in part exchange. In the past it has often been the case that dealers have shipped these out to car auctions, but they are now finding that it is more lucrative to sell them directly from their own dealerships.

That new car sales are down a little is indisputable. Concerns over the economy and reduced job security have caused many people to postpone their decision to replace their car with a new one. Car owners who would normally exchange their car for a new one every two year are tending to hang on to them for longer.

Many people in Edinburgh are buying nearly new cars as an alternative to new ones. Although there are few things that are better than that feeling you get when you drive a brand new car, the amount by which they depreciate during their first year tends to discourage many people, and they find that by buying a nearly new car that is less than a year old all that depreciation can be saved.

Even if you do decide to buy a brand new car in Edinburgh then you will find that it is always worth trying to haggle a little with the car dealer. It is not at all unusual for dealers to knock a thousand pounds or so off the new car price in order to secure a sale.

    The Chevy Corvette

Designed in 1953 by General Motors the Chevy Corvette is one of the most known American made cars in the world. Developed by Harley Earl it was originally built in Flint, Michigan. Only 300 Corvettes were built in 1953 thus makes this year and model one of the most sought after at all of the car shows. Although these vehicles are rare and hard to find, there are many owners that take these vehicles to car shows to show-off the pride and joy that has been developed through the years.

Producing 283hp was a great amount and was one of the fast production cars of the time era. The oldest model of Corvette dates back to 1953 and was the third car built then in Flint, Michigan. The oldest surviving Corvette has a serial number of E53F001003, was named 003 and was sold at an auction for US$1,000,000.00.

The newest models of Corvettes come with new safety equipment such as driver, passenger and side airbags. The most advanced model of Corvette is the ZR1 and it comes with a V8 638 hp supercharged engine and car reach a speed of 205 mph. Carbon fiber body parts, wider fenders and more ridged suspension is also include with the ZR1 models which add an element of style, but also an element of durability to the vehicle – ensuring that the V8 engine in the vehicle will take you everywhere you need to go.

The sticker price is a little high at $100,000.00 but the engine is the most powerful ever out of General Motors. One of the down falls if you can call it that is that the ZR1 model is a little heavier than the regular Z06 models but that is mostly because of the supercharger and larger engine. With the addition of the powerful engine, most customers feel that the price tag for this vehicle is indeed justified.

    V8 Engines in America

Throughout the introduction of the V8 engine and the small lineup of Vehicles which were introduced in Britain, there were American inspirations that had come from the designs, beginning with Cadillac, General Motors and Chevrolet. The engines were a popular choice for those seeking a vehicle with power, even in the early designs that were available of the vehicles. Through the leading manufacturing and designing companies, the V8 engines grew in popularity – allowing individuals to have more access to the vehicles.

After World War 2 ended there was an influx of individuals that began to associate the vehicle that had been chosen with a particular status symbol. Through this time, there were more and more people that were concerned with the appearance of the vehicle, as well as concerned about how the vehicle looked. Through this time, automobile manufacturers realized that they could easily place a V8 engine in the spot that had been designed for a V6, in a small matter of time. It was with this realization that people were able to choose to upgrade the engine from the base model which was included in the vehicle. This was becoming a popular choice for individuals that had begun to associate the vehicle with a status symbol and therefore the V8 engine that had been created years earlier was becoming a mainstream addition to the household and even becoming the norm in many parts of the United States.

Less than ten years later there were multiple designs available of vehicles that included the use of the V8 Engine. Through these various designs individuals could choose between models from General Motors, Chrysler and Chevrolet. With this addition also came the introduction of full size cars – which were a popular addition to many households and included traditional V8 engines.

The History of the V8 Engine

The history of the V8 Engine date back all the way to 1902 when an inventor, Leon Lavavasseur took out a patent on a light but powerful engine. This engine was the first injected V8 engine that had been created and therefore he fondly nicknamed the engine, Antoinette. At first, the engine was used strictly for speed boats and aircrafts which were being designed in the area, through the early 1900s before the individual eve through about vehicles. There was a patent taken out for the V8 engine by Lavavasseur at this time, before the engine design began to catch on, nearly two years later when the engines became popular.

At this time came the introduction of the three vehicles which were crafted by Rolls Royce containing the first three V8 engines that were placed in vehicles. There were only three of these vehicles which were created through 1910, and two years later it was displayed within the United States, in New York. Through this display, there were many designer, automobile manufacturers and those working in the vehicle industry that took to this idea and therefore began to come up with ideas of their own for applications that can be used within the V8 engine – and therefore the engines became more and more popular through America.

Cadillac was actually the first company to mass produce a lineup of vehicles that included the V8 engine. Through this introduction, there were more than thirteen thousands units of the vehicles that were sold to customers and the low designs were popular among those that were able to afford the vehicles. Through the rest of 1914 Cadillac was the only manufacturer, until 1916 when GM introduced their product inspired by the V8.

    V8 Engines

With eight cylinders mounted on the crank case, in two groups of four a V8 engine is a popular choice as it allows the driver to accelerate quicker and therefore harness and control the power that comes along with a V8 engine. These groups of four cylinders are set at angle towards each other that is less than ninety degrees and therefore allows individuals to gain and harness the power within the vehicle better than other types of engines.

V8 engines are most popular in racing vehicles but there have been V8 engines which have been included in luxury and sports vehicles, SUVs, Pickup trucks and other types of luxury vehicles in which power is an important part of the purchase. Through these vehicles, there have been many famous models that have included a wide arrangement of V8 engines within the lineup. For example, Rolls Royce built a vehicle in the early 1900s, in which only three copies were made which included the V8 engine, but of course, the type of engine is more accessible nowadays and of course there are additional models of the vehicle along with hundreds of thousands modifications throughout these vehicles.

Since the introduction of the V8 Engine, there have been more and more companies that have been implementing the engine into the design of their vehicles. With a higher level of power that is required in some vehicles, such as in pickup trucks to allow the trucks to be able to haul more, as well as models which simply desire more power, such as luxury car models which are an expensive choice – there are many options in between the two to justify the purchase of a vehicle that has the strength, power and capacity that comes with using a V8 engine.

Lease a Supercar – Aston Martin V8 Vantage

If you own a business and dream of getting your hands on a supercar, then for an outlay of £1,835 a month you could be driving an Aston Martin V8 Vantage Coupe. Now that would impress your clients. It does seem unbelievable, but with an Aston Martin leasing agreement over four years that is how much it would cost you. You will need to go a long way to find a car that looks as good as the Vantage or one that sounds as good.

Or goes as fast; 180 miles per hour is quite possible and with the 420 bhp being delivered from that hand crafted 4.7 litre V8 engine, getting to 60 mph takes but a blink of the eye – well it really takes a little over four seconds.
The reason that the contract hire price seems so low is that with contract hire you are paying only for the depreciation of the car over its first five years. Although the depreciation on the Vantage is quite heavy in the first year, it depreciates at a far lower rate for successive years.

The purchase price is around £90,000 and the estimated value for a properly maintained model (and who wouldn’t properly maintain such a beautiful beast?) is round about £36,000 so the base cost is £54,000. Naturally the dealer needs to make a little profit on that and to cover the cost of the capital he has used to purchase it.

If the Vantage is not the car of your dreams, perhaps you might prefer the Porsche 911 Carrera, or perhaps an Audi R8; maybe even the Mercedes SL550 or the BMW M6. These cars are fairly similar in performance and can all by obtained through contract hire agreements.

But if you are looking for a light, extremely agile and nimble racer which doubles up as a grand tourer, then the Vantage will be what you looking for. The only downside is that in four years time you will be expected to give it back.

    The Popularity of V8 Engines

Throughout the design of the V8 engine with the rugged power that can be seen throughout, there is a high level of popularity through the engine. The power and speed that can be achieved through the decreased time that it takes to accelerate the engine is an effective way to judge the popularity, as well as the vehicles which encompass the engines.

How does the power of an engine impact the vehicle? There are very few vehicles that actually use a V8 engine within the vehicle, including luxury vehicles, sports cars, pickup trucks and SUVs. Other vehicles often have a smaller engine because there is not the power required in the vehicle to bring the vehicle to top speeds. Often, when a person is concerned about the engine in a vehicle they will choose a vehicle with more power, a vehicle that is higher end and a vehicle that is able to attain the speeds and power that the person envisions within the vehicle that they drive.

Other vehicles that are for domestic use often use smaller engines, but give up the power that comes with choosing a V8 engine. These engines take up less room and therefore are more economical, more popular and also use less fuel while being easily compacted into a smaller vehicle – such as many types of compact and mid size vehicles.

There is indeed the possibility to choose a V8 engine with a vehicle that is commonly associated with a V6. This can come as an upgrade and may cost, but for the extra power and speed that potentially come with the upgrade, many customers feel that this is justified.

Most of the common applications for a V8 engine are designed for racing cars and are especially popular in races like Formula One racing, where the driver of the vehicles finds themselves requiring top speeds.
